Special Collaboration: K Models Talent!

Hello you guys!

I hope all is well:) Today, I am sharing a very special collaborative feature with you on my blog. This summer, I was given the impeccable honor of collaborating with the owner and director of K Models Talent, Ms. Katrell Mendenhall. She is a former high fashion model and celebrity make up artist who has invested in herself and others by starting an impressively impactful modeling-talent agency! Her tailored talent training has a reputation for transforming aspiring stars into succinct success stories within 6 months to a year, steering them onto the path of achievement at an early stage! Two great examples of this are Marirose Weldon, who has signed with Capitol Records and is now pursuing prestigious musical endeavors and Caoimhe McDonagh from Chicago Fire! I was privileged enough to interview Ms. Katrell Mendenhall and inquire of some of her extensive expertise. This is what she has to say:

HOW DID YOU GET YOUR START IN THE INDUSTRY?

"I started in the industry when I was 9 years old. My mother would take me back and forth from Maryland to New York in attempt to sign me with an agency. Eventually, I was able to get signed at 12 years old and I ventured into runway modeling, touring and magazines. Then, my career took off from there. I was able to do work with a lot of great photographers and designers as a model. Also, I was able to do celebrity make up artistry for "Chicagolicious" and work as an IMTA Director with John Casablancas before starting my own agency."

WHAT DO YOU OFFER AT KMT AND HOW IS IT UNIQUE TO OTHER TALENT AGENCIES?

"We offer training in acting, singing, dancing and modeling for ages 4 and up. KMT was designed to be a safe environment for those who truly are ambitious and willing to put in the work to have a good start. We are a very hands on, family friendly environment and we honestly focus on building up each individual student to be successful. We offer training that is actually helping you become prepared for the industry, you are not treated like just another number here. Our main focus is being a team and uplifting each other so that we all may reach our goals, whatever they may be. My passion for bringing life to people's dreams is what pushes me to work as hard as I do along with my staff to mold and motivate incoming talent."

FUTURE PLANS FOR KMT?

"I plan on expanding KMT to be national. I want to certainly bring it to the next level. This is a household name for industry professionals and I'm planning on a continuous upgrade. It's always about bettering yourself to stay relevant because there will always be competition. But, in the process, be sure to give back to your hometown as well, never forget who made you. There's always a support system behind every accomplishment. That's why networking is key and building your contacts, growing your support base because every interaction can be a stepping stone to stardom. It can be a small internship that evolves into a management position that turns into an executive position. It can even be something as small as an encouraging compliment that gives you encouragement to escalate your endeavors. Ever experience counts! Never let an opportunity slip because you were unaware of the potential benefits."

ANY ADVICE TO NEW TALENT?

"You have to realize that success does not happen overnight and that true persistence is involved in proving yourself. It is vital that you thoroughly research your craft before embarking on a dead end career! Be knowledgeable about the ins and outs of your field and what it takes to make it before you begin. Take that knowledge and apply it to your life! And, make sure that you beware of scams. Nothing is free in this world so take that into account when considering offers. Lastly, never give up. There will definitely be ups and downs in your career but you must stick it out to maximize your achievements."

ARE THERE ANY PEOPLE YOU WOULD LIKE TO THANK FOR CONTRIBUTING TO YOUR CAREER?

"Yes, certainly! Obviously my mother, husband, family, friends, previous employers and anyone else who has ever sewed seen within me. Anyone who spoke kind words of encouragement. These are the ones who pushed me to prosper within the industry and as an individual. So, a big thank you goes out to them for sure! I've been in the industry for 33 years and I do not plan on stopping anytime soon. That drive and determination was the result of good upbringing, experience and quality instruction."

I had an awesome time getting to meet Ms. Katrell Mendenhall and I will forever cherish our time spent together! She serves as an amazing example for many who are fixing to make something out of themselves. If you would like to know more about her and KMT, then click the link below! Thanks for reading :)

About Me

Hey there! Thanks for stopping by! I'm Calynn, 20x Award Winning businesswoman, media personality and former pageant queen (Miss United States Universe Tourism 2021, Miss World America Nation 2020). I started this blog when I was barely 15 years old in January 2011 as a supplement to my application to the retail business internship at the downtown Chicago Nordstrom mall! I stayed there for 3 years learning the fundamentals of everything fashion business from sales and marketing to media and modeling. This was a phenomenal foundation to my career as it gave me the rudimentary knowledge and competitive edge that I needed to be successful!  From there, I went on to college and obtained my first degree in Business and Humanities (the arts and social sciences). I wrote as a freelance journalist and editor for several large publications and hosted live cable television for two years. I walked countless red carpets being a VIP media guest at major industry events all over the country a

38 Underrepresented World Wide Talents That You Need to Know!

In a world where so many great entrepreneurs and artists can become famous at the act of one viral video online, it's easy to get lost in the misconception that with social media's "power," anybody who is talented is already known. After all, it isn't as difficult to gain exposure and "get big" as it was 20 years ago before the Internet's Massive Media takeover, right? Partially yes, however, social media also makes the market 10x as saturated as it was 20 years ago. Thus, are you really that much further ahead if all of your competition has the means to one-up you, free of cost and inconvenience, just by posting to their online accounts? It's a lot to think about. That is why we here at The Fresh Faces Project work hard to make sure that the artists and entrepreneurs and do-gooders who are underrepresented and don't get the fame and acknowledgment that their talents merit are given a platform. That platform is us. When creating thi

The Search For "Mr. Right": 2 Years On Every App Taught Me This

Over the last 2 years, I've been conducting what some could call a "social experiment." I have been single (by choice) for the better part of the last 2.5 years and had an epiphany a little over 2 years ago to give online dating services a shot! While it hasn't been the most miraculous experience, it has certainly been a valuable one! And, I strongly recommend that anyone who is looking to settle down with a life partner, give them a try! Maybe you don't need to sign up for almost every app known to man like I have LOL, but at least try the major ones. This blog is a detailed account of my findings as a young, sweet, successful woman with online dating.  For clarity, I've added the below chart for you to understand who I am and what I have to offer versus what I am seeking. This foundational knowledge is key to comprehending the results of my "experiment." I, as a 26 year old woman who is the CEO of a successful small business ( www.caycomcreate.co
